the exams are OVER!!

and i am glad they are haha! it was not as big a catastrophe as i expected, i think i have even done well in grammar, translation and litterature, but well... german, latin and american civilization were... well... haha!

i am pretty exhausted but i am too excited to rest for the moment! i have tons of drawings to do, sweet comments i want to reply to, scripts to write and i really want to finish my little website & online shop

i am really thinking about subscribing to DA, but i am not sure if i should. i mean, i would love to customize my DA gallery, put pictures in my journals etc., but at the same time, i have no idea if that would be very worthwhile...

anyway! right now, i think i am going to take a real breakfast in front of "ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT". it has been weeks i have not been able to do it and i am starving!

oooh! i forgot a totally useless and stupid news: i have just realised i have spent something like $170 in a month on CLAMP books, cards and figurines only

but it is NOT my fault! you have to blame ebay, priceminister and JUNKU for having CLAMP products i do not have yet haha!

feeling a bit grumpy today... too bad i do not know why haha!

anyway! i went on working on "ENCHANTED", taking some hours from drawings to test some colours on a page and see which ones look good. the page is not fully done, just two panels, so i will not post it for the moment. i will finish all the linearts for the 2 first issues first, and then do the colours.

i also started a couple of designs for my online shop, thought about some of my scenarii and especially "AU-DELA DU MIROIR" ("BEYOND THE LOOKING-GLASS") and started to learn my lessons as the exams are coming (from June 9th to 12th)...

i also took some time to relax and watch a few things, like the solo show of Laurent Paquin that made me laugh a lot, and a couple of episodes of different Animes that made me want to write once and a while about one of them i loved so much, that i would like the entire world to watch it.

i have to admit that the new generation of animes (since the end of the 90s/beginning of the 2000's) really, deeply annoys me. i have been a huge anime/manga fan since i was 5 years old and TO ME Japan never produced shows as useless and uninteresting as the ones they are producing now. same stories, same designs, same musics... the worst is that it happens when japanese animation is finally recognized worldwide.

fortunately, some wonderful gems are still coming out of all this, though they mostly come from good old authors like with the film & show of "xxxHOLiC" (nothing to do with the fact that i am a CLAMP fan, i just hate the TV anime of TSUBASA...), or are based on old series like with "NEON GENESIS EVANGELION 1.0: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE" and the latest "HOKUTO NO KEN" film.

and to me, "BARTENDER" (based on the manga by Araki Joh and Kenji Nagatomo) is one of them, hence the title of my little post

delightful!! there is no other word! the chara-design by Hirotaka KINOSHITA is gorgeous, Masaki WATANABE and Yasuhiro IMAGAWA did a marvelous work on the direction & scripts (using CGI for the bottles and glasses is a fantastic idea, they never looked that great and real!!), and the jazzy music by Kaoruko OHTAKE from NATURAL HIGH is just wonderful!

oh! and let us not forget one of the most brilliant ideas of the shows: THE COCKTAILS!!! thanks to "BARTENDER" you will, first spend a few great hours watching a classy and inspiring show, but also learn to recognize and how to prepare fantastic cocktails, like the GRASS HOPPER or the NIKOLASCHKA, thanks to the recipes at the end of each episode and to a bartender, showing you how to do during the ending theme.

i want to be a bartender now...

my last post was on April 15th?! wow! i did not think it took me so long to write another one, i guess i really was busy then haha!

as the title just says, i have got 3 fantastic news (fantastic for me of course!)!

first of all, i have been told the book about the German band TOKIO HOTEL i did illustrations for, will be released on May 28th. there is already a page for it on AMAZON.FR (f=3"HERE).

then, my fantastic friend Dadar offered me yesterday the japanese version of CLAMP's manga "SHIN SHUNKADEN" (THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!). it is weird, but everytime i get a CLAMP thing, i feel the urge to draw and work haha!

and finally the best of all! a couple of days ago, i sent the front and back covers of the first issue of "ENCHANTED" to Serena (yes i forgot to do it before ) as well as my newest arts as i use to do and two days after, she sent me an email telling me she took them with the pages i have already done to mr. Dan Vado (SLG's big Boss for those who do not know him ).

well it seems that both of them really liked the colours i use and so.... they would like "ENCHANTED" to be FULLY IN COLOURS!!!

no need to say that i am incredibly excited about that and i hope i will be able to do something great!!

for the moment, we are planning to do the first two issues in colour and if sales works well, we will go on this way. if not, we will go back to black & white... both are fine to me, though i would like it better to go on with colours haha!

i should go back to work now, i would like to have something new to post here quickly!

IT IS DONE! i have just finished all the illustrations for the TOKIO HOTEL book and they are all sent to the publisher

the very kind editor also sent me the final version of the cover she modified. she changed some colours and took off some of the things in the background, i will post her cover here soon.

next thing to do now: FINISH "ENCHANTED"!! it has been SO long i started to work with Serena on this amazing story, but with all the problems i have been having those last two years, movings, health problems, hospital etc etc, i always had to stop...

i am also working on my own website/blog at the moment! i actually started a few months ago, but as i had no real idea about the general design or what i would like to put inside, i did not feel like starting it.

now it is almost finished though some sections are still empty and i need to buy a domain name like vincentbatignole.com or vincentbatignole.fr or vincentbatignole-net.com (nah, this last one sounds much better with CLAMP haha!). i hope many of you will come see me there sometimes when it is done and tell me what you think

ok! now i am posting a little drawing and after that, it is tea-time!

hello everyone!

sorry for the lack of news, the last few weeks have been so exhausting, you have NO idea! i unfortunately had to face the death of two of my friends (a friend of mine and some days later his mother) and, though i did my best to deal with that as well as my drawings, writings and college, it was so hard that i really needed to be calm at home...

but i am back, feeling much better and really inspired!

i am finishing the illustrations for the French book about the German band TOKIO HOTEL while working on "ENCHANTED", i am also starting what i hope will be the final version of "JUSTIN" and am writing many comics scenarii (hopefully, i will find artists here to work with on them...). and OF COURSE i do not forget college and all the work i have to do haha!

i will not write a long message right now, i really want to reply to all the lovely comments you sent me while i was away. thank you so much everybody, it means a lot to me!!
